Frequently asked questions

  • What are the benefits of Reiki?

    • Reiki promotes relaxation, stress reduction, and symptom relief to improve overall health and well-being. Reiki aids in healing by helping people become energetically balanced - physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Reiki can be used as a complementary therapy used in conjunction with  your regular medical treatment for  “acute and chronic disease, anxiety, fatigue, depression, and other stress related symptoms”(Cleveland Clinic, 2021)

  • What are the benefits of Reiki for Empaths and Highly Sensitive People?

    • Reiki can be a valuable tool to manage feelings of being overwhelmed and overstimulated.  Empaths often experience the emotions, physical/mental ailments, and energy of others as if it’s their own. HSPs are affected by the moods of others and quickly become overstimulated with the rhythms of day to day life.  Reiki can help restore your own energy and bring you back into balance.  Reiki can help release what you have picked up from others so that you can be grounded in yourself. For those who are easily overstimulated and typically feel drained at the end of the day; Reiki can help restore your energy.

  • How does in-person Reiki work?

    • Reiki activates the body’s own self-healing process to restore physical and emotional well-being.  The Reiki practitioner channels Reiki through the palm of their hands.  The Reiki practitioner places their hands either gently on your body or six inches above your body on specific points, similar to acupuncture.  The practitioner designs the Reiki session based on your individual intentions. There are over 20 different areas on the body that can receive treatment. The practitioner moves to another area of your body once the energy transference has taken place.  Clients may notice warmth, tingling sensations, and a sense of relaxation as the treatment is being given.

  • How does distance Reiki work?

    • The Reiki practitioner and client will schedule a specific time for treatment where the client can comfortably lie down in an area with little to no disruption.  The client will send the practitioner a photo and a few details about themselves including their intention for the session.  At the time of treatment, the Reiki practitioner and client will connect via zoom to begin the session.  As the Reiki practitioner moves through the treatment, there will be check-ins to ensure the client is comfortable.  Clients may notice warmth, tingling sensations, and a sense of relaxation as the treatment is being given.

  • What does Reiki feel like?

    • Some clients feel warmth/heat emanating from the practitioner’s hands.  Others feel a tingling sensation throughout their body.  Others fall into a deep state of sleep during the session as their body becomes relaxed.  Some clients do not feel anything at all. Rest assured that whether you feel Reiki energy or not, it is still working.

  • How often should I get Reiki treatments?

    • For new clients, it is recommended to receive 8 - 12 Reiki treatments spaced 1 week apart.  Once you begin to see improvement, it is recommended to get a Reiki treatment once every four to six weeks. Your individual treatment plan can be discussed with your Reiki practitioner.

  • How should I prepare for my Reiki session?

    • After you book a session, documents requiring your signature will be emailed to you. Please fill out the intake form, sign the liability waiver, and policies. Please wear loose and comfortable clothing.  The sessions are fully-clothed. Please bring water with you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give 24 hours notice or you may be charged for the full treatment fee.

  • What is your cancellation, refund and late policy?

    • Clients must cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance. You, as the client, will be responsible for the entire fee for the session if cancellation is less than 24 hours or you do not show up for the session*.  If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time.
